TEMPERED GLASS

Tempered safety glass is a special type of glass that breaks into small, blunt pieces when impacted. This type of glass is used in various applications such as glass railings, glass doors, shower cabins, partitions, glass furniture, street furniture, refrigerator and oven glasses, solar collector glasses, side and rear windows of automobiles.

The tempering process includes heating and cooling stages in order to impart compressive stress to the outer surfaces of the glass and an indirect tensile stress to the middle of the glass. While this process increases the durability of the glass and its resistance to thermal stresses, it does not change the volume, chemical structure, color and clarity of the products.

Compared to flat glass that has not been heat treated, tempered safety glass is approximately 5 times more resistant to impacts. In addition, it is suitable for use as safety glass because it breaks into small and blunt pieces when broken, reducing the risk of injury.
